"How do I set up MacSpeech Dictate and the Plantronics Calisto headset with Bluetooth USB Adapter for use together?"
Details:
To set up your Plantronics Calisto headset with Bluetooth USB Adapter for use with Dictate, please follow the directions below:
Pair the headset with the Bluetooth USB adapter:
- Insert the Bluetooth USB adapter into a USB port on your computer.
- Verify the headset is off. If the headset is on or showing any blinking lights, turn the headset off by pressing and holding the headset button for 4 seconds, until you hear 4 descending beeps. After the headset is powered off, remove it from your ear. Once the headset is turned off, there will not be flashing any lights.
- Once the headset is verified to be off, hold down the call control button (the only button) for 6 seconds or until you see red and blue alternating lights, and then release the button.
- Press and hold the pairing/connect button for 3 seconds until it starts alternating blue and red.
- The headset and Bluetooth USB adapter will find each other when in pairing mode and connect.
- The headset will be blinking blue every 10 seconds and the Bluetooth USB adapter will have a steady blue light once it is successfully paired.
To verify that the headset is working correctly, follow the directions below:
- Choose System Preferences on your Mac. This can be found under the Apple menu at the top left of your screen.
- Click on Sound
- Click on the Input tab
- Select the item "Plantronics BT Adapter"
- Test the headset microphone by speaking into it and observing the Input Level indicator for activity. If you are not receiving activity, please make sure you have charged the headset completely.
- Once you've confirmed through System Preferences>Sound>Input that your headset is working, launch MacSpeech Dictate.
- Create a new Profile. Be sure to select "Plantronics BT Adapter" as your microphone.
